HOW TO GET READY FOR YOUR TATTOO APPOINTMENT
One week before
You should take good care of you skin by moisturizing, drinking lots of water and staying out of the sun for at least a week.
Avoid blood thinners like aspirin or alcohol for 24hrs, as they will make you bleed more interfering with the tattoo process and affecting the end result. Consult your doctor about your prescriptions and conditions.
The day of
TAKE TIME OFF: Do not make serious plans or time commitments (e.g. work, dinner reservations, ticketed events…) for after your appointment as there is no way to accurately predict how long the entire appointment will last, and you don’t want to make your artist rush.
EAT: Have a solid meal before, that is high in fat and/or carbs to make sure you have enough energy to get through the pain. Also make sure to bring some snacks with you if you know your tattoo will take more than a couple hours.
SHOWER: Make sure you are clean, but refrain from shaving the area and wearing perfume or cologne, as it may cause irritation and interfere with the tattoo process.
DRESS APPROPRIATELY: Wear clothes that allow access to the area where you're getting the tattoo and that are comfortable, preferably in a solid neutral color or black, and that can get dirty as there’s a chance they can get ink or blood on them. (E.g., if your're gettng a tattoo on your hip, you shuld bring a swimsuit that you can untie at the sides)
