Avoid blood thinners like aspirin or alcohol for 24hrs, as they will make you bleed more interfering with the tattoo process and affecting the end result. Consult your doctor about your prescriptions.
The day of
Make sure you are showered and clean. Refrain from wearing perfume or cologne.
DO NOT SHAVE the area for you artist. This may cause irritation and interfere with the tattoo process. Your artist will do that for you.
Wear clothes that are comfortable (preferably in a solid neutral color or black) that allow access to the area where you're getting the tattoo, and that can get dirty as there’s a chance they can get ink or blood on them. E.g., if your're gettng a tattoo on your hip, you shuld bring a swimsuit that you can untie at the sides.
Make sure you have a solid meal before, that is high in protein, to make sure you have enough energy to get through the pain. Also make sure to bring some snacks with you if you know your tattoo will take more than a couple hours.
